Market Report 4-11-2010

USA Grapes are very short in supply. There are minimal quantities of Australian Grapes available.

The quantities of stonefruit are slowly increasing. By the month’s end we should have good eating fruit.

Orange supply is light. Pricing will stay high.

New Zealand fruit will increase but prices will stay firm

Salad Vegies

Continental cucumbers will be good value. Lettuce quality will be a bit hit & miss due to the weather.

Tomatoes will remain firm over the next month

Supply and quality of Rockmelon & Honeydew is still quite erratic out of NQ. We are starting to see some fruit from Chinchilla. Seedless Watermelon out of NT is starting to ease in quantity.

Cooking Veggies

We are starting to use Victorian Broccoli & Cauliflower. Brussels Sprouts & Leeks are very expensive & look like remaining that way in the near future.

Heavy Produce
Brushed Potatoes

Recent rain has upset South Qld production. North Qld (Atherton) supply has reduced as lower tableland growers have finished.

Washed Potatoes

Quite expensive at the moment out of Gatton (rain). South Australia is out of season at the moment.

Has risen in price. Butternut to remain dear for a while.

Local Onions are starting in Browns. Salad Onions will stay with USA for the time being.

Herbs & Salad Mixes

Silverbeet is in short supply due to the recent rainy weather. Prices on most herb lines should remain the same. Eschallots are also light supply due to rain.
